i'm very excited for this one as an appreciator and casual player of hitman: world of assassination. while i don't always enjoy the decisions io made across that hitman trilogy, all of the decisions they made and levels they designed are very interesting. so i'm excited to see how they take those ideas and apply them to a more on-rails, triple-a game. from some of the footy i've watched of first light, i think i'm going to enjoy the bourne identity–style "grab random object and use it as weapon" mechanic, and it looks like it was implemented in a very satisfying way.

i've been Hitman-curious for a long time and have consumed a lot of media about it, thusly coming to appreciate IO interactive and especially their environmental design. a YouTuber i like (AnyAustin) did a video about videogame nightclubs recently and highlighted a Hitman 3 (i think?) level that looked absolutely insane.

so the 007 game will be my first try with their stuff, with full knowledge that it is not their typical game design. i find i'm particularly susceptible to zeitgeist fomo when it comes to games. my to-play list is huge though so Hitman will come, but later.

i have also watched that anyaustin video and can confirm that that nightclub level is just sublime. i think if you only played two levels it would have to be that one and the miami racing track one!
