Dang!

You mean that, this entire time, fandom.com has been, canonically, the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, from the hit book series Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

I definitely never appreciated the breadth of human knowledge that the HHGG had about sonic the hedgehog

it is crazy how the idea of the Guide seems so much less novel now that we have, like, Wikipedia

Also the fact you can download Wikipedia, and straight up fit onto a phone!

We've somehow managed to take a sci-fi concept, and have an existant version of it with better ergonomics

BOOKSTORE

A long time ago there was a fancy breakfast joint in my neighborhood that had been there since the 80s or longer. There were photos of all kinds of celebrities on the walls, which is impressive because this wasn't really even much of a town before like, the 90s/00s. We loved going there.

Anyway that place closed when the owner passed away and then it was another restaurant for a while, and now it just opened up as a big neighborhood bookstore!

We went and come to find out, it was their opening weekend.

It was a total mess!

Crowded. Their credit card readers were down. They had to manually enter all the cc numbers (and expiration dates...and ccvs...and zip codes) by hand. So the line to check out snaked back around almost to the back of the store.

They nominally had a cafe, but it was inexplicably also behind the checkout counter. And they had a dude working the machine who was obviously just some dude (not the kind that knows how to work an espresso machine), so you had to stand in the checkout line just to order a coffee. And to get milk or anything, they had to leave the counter and go to the back of the store and come back.. it was an obvious, glaring design flaw in the layout of the shop.

Anyway, it was a hecking cute shop overall. One feature of the restaurant they kept was in the back, they covered the alley and have a heated quasi-outdoors area that is just really hecking cozy.

We, my partner and I, went to go pick out a birthday gift for our friend. I picked out a copy of Moby Dick and a pack of playing cards (with cats on them) for playing cribbage. But my partner was like no, put those back, we're getting this book from their goodreads list.

After the fact we found out that this bookshop was opened by the same guy who a couple years ago bought a beloved local independent bookstore and ran it into the ground. Also one time he ran for mayor and was like, we should definitely cooperate with immigration enforcement.

And we were like OOPS! did NOT mean to support that guy

PIZZA

It was a big chewy slice! It was pretty good!
