so i'm finally playing this game everyone likes.

turns out it's great!

what are some people favorite memories of playing? i've got two to share:

1. monster i had no hope in hell of defeating chased me on to a big elevator. it initiated a huge attack i knew i wouldn't survive so i jumped off. i tanked the falling damage without dying, the monster finished the attack and jumped off after me -- only to fall to its death.

2. i was playing coop and we got invaded by a real griefy griefer with a spiked flaming shield. my friend and i both used the mimic's veil to become random objects and hid on either side of a dark room. the griefer did not expect us to both suddenly appear and jump him from behind for the kill.

My favorite part about Elden Ring is playthroughs 5 through 9 or so. There are so many builds and weird ways to play that it comes alive when you start trying really stupid stuff and realize it's entirely feasible. If you're still playing through it then I don't want to spoil anything, but some runs that I particularly enjoyed were:

- Shield only. Shield as an offensive weapon is _good_ not just viable. It's also just really fun, especially if you go all in and make your build about tanking everything.

- Prioritizing arcane + stamina turns things into a stealth + crafting game. A bunch of throwables / consumables scale with arcane, and when your arcane is VERY high (read: higher than it should be) then the drop % modifier it gives you means that enemies you kill are always dropping a ton of random items you can use for crafting. It was fun running around The Lands Between as a weird scavenger macguyver ninja that thinks he's Batman and just gets 1-shot by everything.

(if it's not clear, I've have spent way way too much of my life on ER.)
