GAMERS
what are we playing lately?
my current obsession is Mewgenics, despite the questionable name and crass 2011 humor i'm really enjoying it. the minute to minute tactics mechanics are SO good and the variety of skills are the stuff of dreams. i've been toying with making a tactics game myself for ages and i'm jealous of how good this one is.

I am playing on and off BABA IS YOU, and it is about as good as everyone has said. I do like sokoban tho so ymmv if you don't

I have also been playing Mewgenics. I am carefully using selective breeding to create a lineage of cats which have all level 7 base stats.

I haven't fully dived into the breeding mechanics yet, but I think I'm at the point in game difficulty where I can't progress until I breed some stronger cats. any tips?

I haven't fully dived into the breeding mechanics yet, but I think I'm at the point in game difficulty where I can't progress until I breed some stronger cats. any tips?
Get a cat with at least one base stat level 7, and that'll be your stud and make a dedicated breeding room for it. Try to use furniture to maximize the stimulation (it increases the odds the kittens will get the better of the two stat values between parents). Whenever you find a stray cat with a new level 7 stat, you want to breed it with your stud until you get a kitten with the combination of level 7 stats. That will be your new stud cat. Repeat the process until your stud has all level 7 stats. Increasing comfort will increase breeding frequency, the appeal stat will make higher quality strays appear and the health stat will extend the lifespan of your cats.

i've enjoyed Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator a lot a lot lately. it's a really chill game, with a super cool idea of having to make potions by adding ingredients, where every ingredient adds a path segment in its own direction and shape and you go around the map getting the effects

i got my first 1cc in a shmup, Harmful Park!
but it was on easy mode...the bosses mostly fell to one bomb + a little extra. however the final few stages were mildly challenging. the game is oozing with charisma and has some really cool mechanics/gimmicks. i especially liked unkillable enemies you had to lure into a trap (that could also kill you).
on to normal mode!

oh shit but has anyone played OMEGA BOOST? it's a panzer dragoon like (ok ok, space harrier like) but you pilot a mech and it was developed by the gran turismo team for ps1 and looks *amazing*. i gotta get it on the xstation.

excellent! i was sort of trying something like this but i wasn't getting the results i wanted. maybe my comfort level wasn't high enough? i've been sending extra cats to the NPCs to get tips on mechanics etc. and knew about the comfort/appeal, i just thought i was missing something else.
