Yesss I love the computer fuckery!OMYGOSH GODZILLA MENTIONED, AND SPECIFICALLY GODZILLA 2000!I watched Godzilla 2000: Millennium last night. Kind of fun that there's a on screen representation of the Y2K bug, but my favorite is that often something would happen and then they'd cut to Godzilla for his reaction just for a plain >:| face
I really really like g2k, even if it's a notably messy and rushed movie. The new suit definitely has some odd angles to it and the plot is a bit all over the place and never really settles long enough to have any legitimate stakes to it, but I absolutely love the way Orga messes with computers and stuff (especially since it means we get a bunch of turn-of-the-millennium computers being shown off.) I wish they'd have kept the purple/orange colored spines for longer, they look really awesome and make this specific ziller stand out. The revised version of the suit that shows up for GxMG is a hundred times better, but they almost made it too much like a wild animal, I spent my most recent rewatch wishing I could pet it.
Vibes are off the chart, it is super good. I love how much more the Cold War fears play into it and how overall very 80s it all is. Return of Godzilla has been one of my favorites so far.Such a banger movie, the vibes in RoG are so good. That Tokyo set is absolutely incredible, all the scenes with Godzilla being totally dwarfed by the buildings feel like such a tangible change compared to the Showa series. There are definitely some rough angles for the suit but I like how terrifying it can look in certain scenes. The score!!!!! Such a fantastic soundtrack for Godzilla's big re-debut.The Return of Godzilla (1984) is a sequel to the original 1954 release, rebooting the series. The earlier Showa Godzillas get hella camp hella fast and while that's quite fun, and it was cool to see this one return with a bit of the scary!
