The first time I got deep into forums was playing this nation simulator game eRepublik which was the most fun and most toxic thing (politics were game enforced!).

it was a Digimon forum that ran on ancient phpBB 2, it was my first exposure to forums. i remember following the link in the footer and downloading phpBB, opening the files and thinking.... okay now what??
