woken up at dawn by a wild stellar jay fight outside my window. new birds just kept showing up to scream.

saw a good number of species this year w/ my partner (~105 per eBird), so feeling pretty good. of particular excitement were some non-local rarities that appeared at a nature preserve about an hour from us, as well as a nighthawk at a more "close by" nature center. good warbler year overall though everything was weirdly late and didn't stay around too long.
favourite warbler has to be the blackburnian or magnolia warblers. beautiful, beautiful birds to see!

a couple of weeks ago i started seeing a nest accumulate right outside my kitchen window and while i have not seen any birds there yet it does not seem abandoned. i hope to have happy updates soon

the other week at the park i saw several
Spotted Towhees and i instantly fell in love with them, they're so beautiful and precious and lovely, they hop around on the ground and between fallen logs looking for food and they make an adorable TWEEEEE sound
